STEVE SIROCKIN BIO

Steve’s musical training started at age four with classical piano lessons and public recitals, and his first drumset was just a collection of pots and pans. This evolved into performing with rock bands in jr and sr high school, later touring and recording with many fine bands in a wide variety of musical settings and styles including progressive rock, jazz-fusion, funk, jamband, R+B, soul, ska, new age, pop, classic rock, reggae, metal and more.

Steve has recorded with Carole King’s backup band Navarro, performed with Germany’s rock show Guru Guru, Los Angeles band Robin Crow, toured with  60’s star Vic Dana, recorded with folk rocker Buzzy Linhardt, toured with Acoustic Junction opening for jam band Widespread Panic, and performed or recorded with various individual band members of The Rippingtons, Michael Murphy band, Jerry Jeff Walker band, and Firefall.

Opening act credits include concerts with Widespread Panic, Fishbone, Marty Balin from Jefferson Starship, Jack Mack and the Heart Attack, Commander Cody, and more. Locally, he has performed or recorded with The Freddi Henchi band, Lannie Garret, jazz fusion guitarist Michael Reese, popular ska band The Skatterbrains, vocal group The Chutney Brothers, R+B act The Girls, Jamaican crew Reggae Posse, rocker songwriter Michael John Band, college band Hurdy Gurdy, songwriter Sly del Vecchio, prog rock project Throb, funk project Groover, and many more. He continues to play drums and keyboards on sessions.

His session experience in such recording studios as Caribou Ranch, Northstar, Mountain Ears, Applewood, and many others, as well as recording with major label producers such as Kim Fowley and John Palladino, led to his opening and operating his own studio facility, recording and/or producing various bands, singer/songwriters and soundtrack music. He has recorded pilot ads for national tv commercials for the Solar Energy Research Institute, Sunkist Juice, Coors Lite beer, and Bubble Magic while a staff session player at an advertising music studio, and wrote soundtracks for several small independent films.

He graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver music program, under the direction of former audio engineering society president the late Roy Pritts, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sound Synthesis, Recording, and Reinforcement. This program included studio recording, music business, music theory and composition, record company administration, music publishing, jazz ensembles, ear training, television/video production, and more.
